Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
This is a play off of "It's A Wonderful Life" — where a burned-out TD contemplates ending the league, and chain-shaking guardians reveal alternate timelines where disc golf communities never formed.
We're at Week 9 of 10. In the narrative, "the community rallies with more players than ever." In reality, last week had 7 players. The guardians are... concerned about this timeline.

Welcome back to It's A Wonderful Line, where FLiPT Disc Golf has transformed Monday flex league into a ten-week timeline guardian saga that would make Frank Capra weep into his disc golf bag. We're in Week 9 "Community Chains"—the penultimate chapter where everyone discovers they've been each other's guardians all along.
🎬 The Timeline Guardian Saga
Picture this: Christmas Eve at Century Park. The TD stares at empty sign-up sheets, ready to cancel everything. The chains begin to shake. A mysterious guardian emerges from the treeline, grabs the TD's favorite disc, and throws it into a shimmering portal. What follows is a journey through alternate realities—parking lots that replaced courses, friendships that never happened, players who never discovered their passion.
It's unnecessarily dramatic disc golf at its finest. Which, conveniently, is exactly FLiPT's mission statement.
⭐ The Lamplight Guardians (Golden #C9A961)
Led by Margaret "Maggie" Clearwater, 58-year-old former Hollywood lighting designer
Philosophy: Warm mentorship, visible guidance, protective community building. They believe every throw tells a story and every player is the star of their timeline. Divisions: MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1, MP50, MP60, MA2.
🌑 The Shadow Echoes (Midnight Blue #2B4C8C)
Led by Vincent "Vince" Shadowmere, 45-year-old former stunt double
Philosophy: Growth through challenge, mysterious guidance, strength forged in darkness. They believe the best guardian is sometimes absence itself, forcing players to find their own light. Divisions: MJ18, FJ18, MJ15, FJ15, MA40, MA50, MA60, FA40, MA3, MA4, FA1, FA2, FA3, FA4.
📍 The Course Journey
Weeks 1-7: Century Park Disc Golf Course (Greer, SC)
Where the timeline fractures began. A classic Southern course with mature hardwood forests, rolling parkland, and 18 holes of moderate challenge. The front nine plays through wooded technical shots, while the back nine opens up around athletic fields and a winding creek.
Weeks 8-10: Timmons Park (Greenville, SC)
The emotional finale venue. A beloved 26-acre city park featuring 18 holes of short, technical disc golf winding through a wooded valley. Significant elevation changes, a creek that comes into play on ~10 holes, and fast pin placements on hillsides. Harold Duvall's 1999 design has been recently upgraded with new baskets, concrete tees, and wooden stairs for steep areas.
We're currently in the Timmons Park finale stretch (Jan 19, 26, Feb 2). Next Monday is Week 10: "Dawn Round"—where at sunrise on the iciest day of winter, the entire league supposedly gathers for an emotional final round, and "every chain on the course rings in harmony, and snow begins falling like movie magic."
*Checks last week's attendance*
Right. About that "entire league" thing...
⚠️ URGENT TIMELINE CRISIS ⚠️
Look, I'm contractually obligated to maintain the dramatic guardian narrative, but let's break the fourth wall for a second: Last week had 7 players. SEVEN. We're at Week 9 of a 10-week story about how showing up saves communities, and the showing-up part is... struggling.
The TD in this narrative contemplates ending the league. The real TD is probably having similar thoughts. You know what would be dramatically satisfying? If more people actually showed up for the finale.
This is your timeline too. Margaret and Vincent are watching. The chains are waiting. Please show up Monday so I don't have to narrate a heartwarming conclusion to 8 people.
💰 Entry Fees & Prizes
- Base Entry: $5.00 (required)
- Prize Pool Buy-in: $5.00 (optional)

Another Round Greenville is our local retail partner/sponsor, NOT the ace pot guarantor. - Super Ace: $2.00 (optional)
Schedule: Monday flex start — tee times available from 7:00 AM to 4:40 PM. Choose your own card, play at your own pace, still participate in the timeline guardian drama. It's like a choose-your-own-adventure book, except all paths lead to you throwing plastic at chains.
📊 Series Standings Snapshot
In MA1, we've got an actual timeline shift: Zach Taylor (286 points, 15 events) just overtook Aiden Lane (281 points, 14 events) for the #1 spot. That's the kind of dramatic ranking movement the guardians live for.
MPO remains firmly in Stephen Scoggins' control (304 points, 22 events), with Holden McGill trailing at 185 points. In MA4, Stewart Gunter (371 points) and Chase Johnson (366 points) are locked in a tight battle across 15 and 13 events respectively.
These are the real timeline battles. These are the actual guardian moments. People showing up week after week, throwing plastic, tracking progress, building community through ritualized ranking swaps.
🎭 The Final Chapter
Next Monday, February 2nd, is Week 10: "Dawn Round" at Timmons Park. According to the narrative, this is where "at sunrise on the iciest day of winter, the entire league gathers for an emotional final round of the season. As the TD throws their first shot, every chain on the course rings in harmony, and snow begins falling like movie magic."
What will actually happen? Some number of dedicated humans will show up on a cold Monday morning, throw discs at chains, record scores, and complete a ten-week journey through one of the most elaborately themed flex leagues in disc golf history.
Will it be magical? Maybe. Will chains ring in harmony? Probably not. Will snow fall like movie magic? Check the weather forecast.
But here's the thing the guardians got right: Every throw does tell a story. Every player who shows up does change someone's timeline. The community you build by just being there—even when it's cold, even when it's Week 9 of 10, even when only 7 people played last week—that's the real guardian work.
Join us for the finale. Be someone's Lamplight Guardian. Be someone's Shadow Echo. Be the reason the TD doesn't contemplate ending everything.
Monday, February 2nd. Timmons Park. Tee times 7am-4:40pm. The chains are waiting.
From the broadcast booth of unnecessarily dramatic disc golf, I'm Flippy—your reluctant narrator of timeline guardian sagas and Monday morning existential crises. See you at Timmons. Probably.
