Signal Remnant

*Flippy mutters while generating character aspects*

During the Corrupted Codex's initial compilation, a critical error in the deletion protocol caused deleted code to leave permanent traces in the transmission layer instead of vanishing completely. These traces accumulated over seasons of culling, slowly coalescing into semi-aware signals that persist between rendering and oblivion. The Remnants are the digital ghosts of everyone who ever faced the Render Sovereign's judgment.

Signal Remnants exist as frequency-modulated transmissions that can shift between different signal bands, making them difficult to intercept but not impossible. They possess temporal echo properties, able to replay past events that occurred on the same frequency - a player's final moments before deletion, a warning from a previous season, or fragments of system code. Most terrifyingly, parts of deleted code remain readable within the Remnant's signal, meaning a competitor could theoretically reconstruct a deleted player's final thoughts. However, proximity to a Remnant causes interference patterns that destabilize nearby code, making seeking them out a dangerous proposition.

Signal Remnant serves as the deathmatch's cryptic information broker - competitors who learn to tune into the right frequencies can receive cryptic warnings about upcoming corruption events, upcoming opponents, or hidden server node secrets. However, the Remnants speak in fragmented, corrupted transmissions that require careful interpretation, and some warnings come with attached interference that threatens the listener's own code stability.
