Sodbuster Testament

*Flippy mutters while generating character aspects*

The first Sodbuster Testament emerged when a lone homesteader spent three seasons breaking sod on a claim that had claimed two previous settlers - when the survey crew arrived, they found not just a cabin but a working farm, and the land itself seemed to bear witness to what had been wrought. The Testament crystallized from the effort, becoming a permanent record that the wilderness had been beaten.

A heavy leather-bound document the color of packed prairie earth, its surface textured with visible fibers of compressed sod running through it like veins. The edges are darkened with char marks, and when held to light, faint greenish patterns emerge - the ghost of grass roots preserved within. The binding is stitched with sinew, and the whole object has the weight and solidity of a small plow blade. It emits a faint smell of turned soil and summer grass smoke.

Marks those who have successfully transformed wilderness into productive claim - serves as proof of capability to survive independently in Oregon Country. The Testament stands as declaration that the bearer has earned their position not through luck or proximity to the vanguard, but through the fundamental frontier act of making something from nothing.
