Grudge Match

The Grudge Match was born in Round 3 of the inaugural gauntlet, when a controversial decision allowed a defending champion to retain their position against a hungry challenger. The challenger swore on their belt that they would return, and the legend of the Grudge Match began - a symbolic representation of all the unresolved rivalries that fuel the competition across all eight rounds.

A compact disc tag shaped like a miniature championship belt buckle, featuring a weathered black leather strap. The front displays deep crimson enamel in the center surrounded by brushed silver Art Deco geometric patterns that radiate outward like the series' signature sunburst. The reverse side bears engraved initials and dates of past rivals - each pair representing a Grudge Match that has been resolved or remains outstanding, creating a physical record of competitive history.

The Grudge Match serves as a tracker of unresolved rivalries within The Prodigy's Gauntlet. It manifests when two competitors have significant competitive history, granting extra intensity to their encounters and sometimes influencing matchups to ensure rivals face each other again. This creates interconnected narratives across multiple leagues, as the same Grudge Match can span different events and competitions.
