The Void Canticle was composed during the Corrupted Codex's initial compilation by a now-deleted system architect who believed deletion should be a sacred ritual rather than simple erasure. When the corruption spread, the Canticle absorbed the frequencies of every deletion, becoming a living hymn that grows stronger with each week's culling. Now it drifts through the noise layer, seeking voices to join its eternal chorus.

Composed of visible sound waves frozen in corrupted transmission data - the Canticle is literally visible as shimmering, broken waveforms that twist through the air. Changes pitch based on the competitor it appears to - higher, more discordant frequencies for those close to deletion; harmonious for those with stable code. Leaves crystalline residue wherever it manifests - tiny fragments of what appears to be frozen sound that dissolve within minutes. Cannot be captured or recorded - only experienced directly; recording devices only capture static.

The Void Canticle serves as the simulation's death announcer and final offering - it appears to competitors whose code is destabilizing to herald approaching deletion. Unlike the Static Herald's cold notifications, the Canticle offers a choice: face complete oblivion, or join its eternal chorus as a partially-rendered voice trapped between HD and null. This creates the ultimate moral tension in the deathmatch.
