Squeezing Until Something Breaks Bring Your Best Shot Absorbs Crunch, Returns Stronger

Aspects refreshed May 16, 2026

The Credit Crunch was born from the first major market crash in the Ledger's history - a player named 'The Bull' had manipulated the system to hold an impossible position, and when the House discovered the manipulation, the resulting correction wiped out half the standings. The echo of that correction remains in the system, activating whenever players overextend beyond their true worth.

The Credit Crunch creates a tightening effect on the bearer's position, slowly constraining their standing until they either consolidate or fall. It naturally attracts challenges from rivals who sense weakness, as the Crunch signals vulnerability. When active, it glows with a reddish-gold light - the color of overheated assets and warning lights. The tag can be transferred through successful defense, allowing a player to absorb the Crunch and restore their position.

The Credit Crunch acts as the Emerald Ledger's warning system for overextended players, forcing them to either consolidate their position or defend against rivals who sense blood in the water. It embodies the series' core tension: ambition is rewarded until it becomes recklessness, and the market always corrects those who push too far.
