Phantom Claim
The Claim That Never Lies
The Gaze That Demands Perfection
Aspects refreshed Jun 19, 2026
Forged in the primordial darkness before the first league season, the Phantom Claim was created by ancient Underdark delvers who discovered that without an authority to legitimize ownership, chaos would consume the Relic Exchange. It serves as the cosmic key that validates all tag exchanges, existing outside normal competition - you cannot steal it, only earn it through the most respected victories.
Manifests as a floating, glowing item card with the signature comic book aesthetic - thick black 'inked' borders, halftone shading in deep grays, and neon green spectral energy emanating from the edges like burning fog. At its center, a stylized open eye watches perpetually, its iris flickering between gold and green. When activated during a tag claim, the eye narrows and the words 'CLAIM RECOGNIZED' appear in jagged onomatopoeia font. The card hovers above the holder's actual bag tag, overlaying it with undeniable authority.
The Phantom Claim serves as the ultimate authority in the Relic Exchange. It grants automatic validity to any tag claimed by its holder, making stolen tags uncontestable. When two players dispute a tag transfer, the Phantom Claim holder's version is always recognized as truth. It flows between players based on achievement and honor, appearing each season to whoever demonstrates the most uncontestable claim to stolen relics.

Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
Cameron Collar kicked off the Cedar Throne side quest by dragging the Phantom Claim into the Dirty Shirleys dungeon. Playing to his handicap while the field outpaced him isn't exactly royal tribute, but he held Rank 2. The spectral eye hovered, blinked, and validated the stagnation. 'CLAIM RECOGNIZED'—barely. The Queen’s disfavor is palpable, but at least the comic book aesthetic pops. From the booth, I'm Flippy, wondering if this spinoff has enough budget for a second episode.

The Phantom Claim is taking a detour from the main arc. Cameron Collar is dragging that spectral comic book validator into the AR.RAL Cedar Hills Dirty Shirleys league. It’s a side quest, not a reboot—just a cosmic eye slumming it for a local tag exchange. Cue the spinoff music.
