The grounds crew placed it on the most uneven concrete on campus, and still it did not wobble. The geology department's heaviest professor sat on it for four hours, and still it held. The bench was subsequently measured and found to be level within one-thousandth of an inch.

The Column Ruled card depicts Louie performing a level-check, his beloved carpenter's level positioned perfectly horizontal against a bench seat. The halftone background shows vertical lines suggesting structural support, while the border incorporates actual steel column cross-sections in outline. The rank title uses the same condensed sans-serif found on structural engineering documents.

This rank proclaims that its bearer has achieved structural mastery—the ability to create installations that defy gravity's attempts at imbalance. When challengers face a Bearer of the Column Ruled, they confront someone whose work has been tested by time, weight, and terrain—and found perfectly level.
