The Recap

Quorum Reached, Shade Not Included

Six players, clear skies, 73.5°F and a 6.9 mph breeze on the Shorts at Springwood Players' Course. Last week's informal council now convenes as the Oak Council, and the quest log has everyone comparing notes at the big oak on nine before the back stretch. adjusts visor The script calls for a closed hardwood canopy, and the course has a soccer field. Somehow the cards still delivered.

The Council Declares a Deadlock 🤝

RPA Gold split down the middle at -11. Bradley Smith was in front through hole 18, but Xavier Preudhomme drew level by the finish, and the pair shared the round of the day at 956. Smith opened with the field's only birdie on hole 1 (273 ft), ran a four-hole heater from 3 through 6, and signed a bogey-free card. Preudhomme answered with a five-hole streak on 13 through 17 that included the field's only birdie on 14 (336 ft). Last week's -17 runaway became a shared seat this week. Survival of the fittest, or at least the ones who can read the wind.

Overruled on Four, Reinstated by Eight

Hole 4 cost Steve Shaw two over par in RAD White, and Joseph Rowe took the lead. Shaw birdied 5 and went 3 under across the next three holes. He pulled even through 7 and led for good through 8, inside a seven-hole heater on 5 through 11 that included the field's only birdie on 10. He finished at -10 on a 945-rated round, 60 points over his 885. Last week he lost this division by a single stroke, so this one counts as a redemption arc. Jacob Wade played the back nine 5 strokes better than the front, birdied six straight from 15 through 20 (including the field's only birdie on 20), and climbed from third to second at -7. Rowe closed at -5 without a single bogey.

Committee of One Seeks Members

Dathan Hammer was the only entry in RAF Green and posted +5 on a 769-rated round, 58 points under his 827, but he steadied with an eight-hole par train from 13 through 20. Challengers, the council table has plenty of open chairs.

The Treasury Remains Very Patient 💰

The Super Ace pot's active prize stood at $500 for this event. Two contributors added $4 to the split contribution pot, nudging it from $490 to $494. Somebody is going to turn that metal into loot eventually.

Every Dollar Gets Archived

The field raised $3.00 this week for the SPC Improvement fund, bringing the total to $5.00 of a $500.00 goal (1%). That leaves $495.00 to go for anyone who wants their name in the custodians' ledger.

Everything Reshuffles Except the Rock 🪨

Stone Archivist In a full-reshuffle week, Preudhomme's share of the 956 kept the #1 Stone Archivist in the Topography Keepers pool for his first defense, earning Still Standing (Milestone I). The tag catalogs what the land was before it became a course: stone walls, old fence lines and the foundation near hole seven. Over in the Arc Cartographers pool, Hammer now carries the #1 Thorn Scribe. Every tag gets redistributed again next week, so nobody gets comfortable.

Peace Talks Over Muddy Footpaths

That RPA Gold deadlock at -11 heads into Path Treaty (Week 3) on Tuesday, October 27, at Springwood Players' Course, with the layout switching to Front 9 + 18 twice, Odd Long, Even Short. The storyline has worn paths channeling water and a working group flagging sustainable alternatives. If those lines hold up, local knowledge may stop being an edge, and that puts both co-leaders on fresh footing. RAF Green is still recruiting, and anyone who tracks a round on PDGA Live gives your narrator more to work with.

Next week, the council brokers a formal peace treaty with a puddle, and somehow I'm the one taking minutes.
