The Empty Keep Finally Gets Visitors 😑

Week 4 of 10, Twilight Brush, played out on The Hoot's Lavender layout under a clear, sweat-through-your-headset 87.3°F evening with wind barely bothering to show up at 4.9 mph. After back-to-back no-shows turned Weeks 2 and 3 into ghost towns, the dragon's keep finally got raided — by exactly two players. Alfonzo Orlando and Patrick Erickson walked into a canvas nobody else touched, and per this episode's promise of "boldest strokes," what followed was a rookie-versus-veteran contrast painted in real time. Small field, sure — but every stroke tonight actually mattered, and that's more than the last two Fridays could say.

Rookie Paints the Boldest Stroke 🎨

Alfonzo Orlando closed RAH at +3 on a blistering 947-rated round, holding off Patrick Erickson's +7 (914-rated) for the win. Orlando grabbed the lead after hole 3 and never let go — a clean wire-to-wire performance — even after a 2-over stumble on hole 12 that he answered immediately with a birdie on 13, then rattled off a resilience run playing 2-under across holes 13 through 15. Erickson opened cold through holes 1-3 before snapping the streak, and showed real grit with a bounce-back birdie on hole 9 after a rough hole 8, but the deficit never closed. Both players ran hot front nines — Orlando's front nine outpaced his back by 5 strokes, Erickson's by 3 — proof this course rewards whoever finds their line early and just doesn't lose it. 🔥

Small Field, Big Statement 📊

Round of the Day in RAH went to Orlando's 947, a full field ahead of the average +5.0 score and 930 average rating — remarkable on its own, but this was also his very first league event, earning the First Time Player nod right out of the gate. Orlando then donated 10% of his $6.00 winnings — 60 cents, and yes, the booth is contractually obligated to note sponsors and course-fund donations are always a good look — locking in Charitable Champion for good measure. The one soft spot in an otherwise electric two-man night belonged to Erickson, who finished 27 points below his 941 rating with that 914-rated round — a tough outing that the box score won't let anyone forget.

The Haze Erupts, Someone Gets Buried 🌋

In The Dusk Silhouettes pool, Orlando's night got even louder: he rocketed from #12 to #1, seizing the Volcanic Haze tag outright — an 11-position jump the booth is calling nothing short of a hostile takeover. Fitting, too, since the tag's own lore traces back to a lightning-split oak and scorched morning mist at Canby Canvas — a tag literally forged for players who turn pressure into fuel, and Orlando's debut just cashed that check in full.

Volcanic HazeA

Over in The Luminous Strokes, top holder Gavin Jones didn't play this event, and under the pool's full AllIn reshuffle, absence wasn't neutral — it was fatal. Jones drops straight to the bottom of that pool's rankings, no cushion, no grace period. Two pools, two very different Friday nights: one throne claimed on the course, one lost entirely off it.

One Rival Bruised, Six Weeks Left 🖌️

Zoom out and tonight reads like the season's next brushstroke exactly as promised — a debut coronation for Orlando, a veteran left bruised in Erickson, and six weeks still left on this canvas before the twilight finale. Erickson's below-rating finish sets him up as the rival with something to prove heading into next week's Gilded Fade, where the real question isn't whether he shows up — it's whether he can repaint over tonight's smudge before the pack catches up. The vault's open again. Let's see who else is brave enough to walk in.
