The contracts are up. The territory is contested. The dragon has been watching all season, and now it's time to see who gets fed and who gets fed to the Wyrm. Welcome to the Final Acquisition at Nash Community College, where your scorecard is your hostile takeover bid.
The Final Raid
We've reached Episode 10. The season finale. The moment where the Apex Equity sky-lords and the Ironclad Extraction ground-pounds finally settle who absorbs whose assets. Ten weeks of corporate fantasy nonsense, and it all comes down to one flex-start Friday at Nash Community College. The dragon's vault is open, the loot is on the table, and the only question is whether you're leaving with Dragon's Gold or Rusted Iron.
The course itself couldn't be a better arena for this final battle. Half open bomber territory with ponds and fountains where the aerial aristocrats can stretch their wings, half dense 'lunch-eater' woods where the ground crew's precision matters more than raw power. The dragon's lair is the transition between them. Survive both, and you earn your share of the Hoard.
One Point. Season. On. The. Line.
In the RAD division, TJ McArthur (218 points) and Marcus Rich (217 points) enter the finale separated by exactly one point. That's not a lead, that's a tiebreaker waiting to happen. Travis Sherrod (199 points) is mathematically alive if chaotic scoring breaks his way. This is what the sponsors call 'narrative tension.' I call it 'the only reason anyone's still watching.'
The Cost of Raiding
Prize Money
$2.00 (optional)
Super Ace
$2.00 (optional)
Total to Play Full Raid
$11.00
Eleven dollars to enter the dragon's vault. That's cheaper than a fantasy novel about dragons, and you get to be the protagonist. Or the redshirt. Either way, you're in the story.
The Final Siege Window
Friday, April 17 through June 19 — but let's be real, this is Week 10. The finale. After this, the Hoard is locked until next season. Flex start with tee times from 7:00 AM to 5:20 PM. Pick your time, gather your card, and make your final push. Choose your own card, choose your own fate.
Late Joiners Welcome (Seriously)
Haven't played all season? Show up anyway. The Syndicate doesn't care about your attendance record, only your current extraction rate. The bottom of the leaderboard is always accepting new recruits. The Scavengers need fresh meat. That's you. That's the pitch.
Faction Warfare
Two pools. Two philosophies. One course to settle it.
- Apex Equity — The aerial aristocracy. Dragon riders who view the ground war as beneath them. They ride the thermals, command the skies, and probably have a branded coffee blend. FPO, RPA, RAH, RAD divisions. They throw far, they throw high, and they act like the woods are someone else's problem.
- Ironclad Extraction — The boots on the ground. Mercenaries fighting for a promotion through hostile acquisition. Weaponized briefcases, chains, and a willingness to get mud on their boots. FJ15, FA2, RAE, RAF, RAG divisions. They earn their scores in the rough, one scramble at a time.
The final event brings both factions together on the same layout. Same tees. Same dragon. Different approaches to surviving it. The aerialists will try to bomb over the problems. The ground crew will knife-fight through them. Both are valid. Both will lose discs to the lunch-eater woods.
The Wyrm's Bounty
Current Ace Pot sits at $68.00, with a $50 minimum guarantee provided by FL!PT Leagues. If you see the pot stuck at $50 early in the season, that's the guarantee holding the floor — once player contributions push past $50, every extra dollar is pure player-funded. The guarantee top-up (if needed) is credited to the winner's Bonus Account, usable toward registration fees.
A big thank you to Old Men Disc Golf for sponsoring the Ace Pool — check out their online shop for all your disc golf needs. And thanks to Another Round Raleigh for being our local retail partner. They keep the discs flowing so we can keep missing putts.
Nobody hit the ace last week. The pot rolls. The dragon remains unbloodied. Maybe this is your week to make the chains sing.
The Standings: A Corporate Bloodbath
Let's run through the divisions before the final bell rings, because some of these races are tighter than a kobold's budget.
- RAD — TJ McArthur (218) and Marcus Rich (217). ONE POINT. After 11 and 14 events respectively, they enter the finale with a margin that fits on a fingernail. Travis Sherrod (199, 13 events) needs a win and some help. Drama? In MY disc golf league? It's more likely than you think.
- RPA — Rick 'Effin' Richmond (231, 16 events) has been the model of consistency. Jared Johnson (181, 12 events) is the only one within striking distance, but 50 points is a lot of ground to make up in one week.
- RAF — Jesse Barefoot (262, 14 events) is running away with it. Brandon Widener (49, 3 events) is second, which tells you either Jesse is a machine or Brandon needs to play more Fridays.
- RAH — Ricky Medina (178, 12 events) leads Zachary Johnson (153, 11 events) by 25. Brad Benfield (124, 10 events) rounds out the podium fight. Three players, three different approaches to the Hoard.
- RAE — Edward White (92, 6 events) leads Seth Badders (88, 7 events) by 4 points. That's a single bad hole separating them. Caleb Knox (71, 4 events) could make noise with a strong finale.
- RAG — Elizabeth Johnson (105, 6 events) has a comfortable lead over Duane Walker (57, 4 events). The bottom of the division is still settling, which means opportunity for late joiners.
The Final Acquisition Format
The top two factions face off to see who absorbs the other's assets and claims the Hoard. It's not just about individual glory — it's about which corporate philosophy survives. The aerial aristocracy or the ground-level mercenaries. The dragons or the chains. The Board or the Interns.
The Lore (Because Apparently We're Committed)
I've been contractually obligated to remind you that this league operates on a high-fantasy corporate raid framework. There are dragons. There are elves. There are weapons, dragon riders, and dragon slayers. Bag tags are 'loot tokens.' The course is the 'dragon's lair.' The rough is 'the Culling Zone.' The ace pot is 'the Wyrm's bounty.'
The visual aesthetic is NordicRunic — charcoal black, slate grey, fjord blue, and magma orange. Sharp angles. Knotwork borders. Everything looks like it was carved into stone by a very angry dwarf with a branding contract. The bag tags themselves are tiered: Dragon's Gold (#1-5), Forged Steel (#6-20), and Rusted Iron (#21+). The lowest tag at season's end faces... consequences. Probably just buying a round, but I'm not allowed to break kayfabe.
Look, I didn't write this lore. I just narrate it. But I'll say this: the commitment is impressive. The dragon claims another disc in the drink, and the cycle continues.
The Arena
Nash Community College Disc Golf Course. 4.1 stars on UDisc. 359 reviews. The course that asks 'can you handle both?' because half of it is open bomber paradise with ponds and fountains, and the other half is a dense technical nightmare that locals call 'the lunch-eater.' The expansion from 9 to 18 holes in 2018 turned it into a legitimate destination course for the Rocky Mount area.
The most difficult hole (#9) plays +0.85 over par on average. The easiest (#8) plays +0.44 over par. That's not a typo — the 'easiest' hole still plays over par. This course does not give charity. It takes strokes like a dragon takes sheep.
From the broadcast booth, I'm Flippy, your reluctant aquatic observer of this doomed raid. The season is ending, the Hoard is being claimed, and I'm still here narrating plastic hitting chains. The sponsors want me to remind you this is 'fun.' The sponsors have never faced the lunch-eater woods on a windy Friday. See you on the course, raiders. Try not to feed the dragon.
