Verdant Requiem
The Creek's Hungry Mirror
Haunted by Drowned Hands
Aspects refreshed May 01, 2026
The first tournament at Timmons Park ended in tragedy when a player fell into the Creek during a sudden flood and drowned. Rather than fade from memory, their spirit merged with the waters, transforming the Creek into something otherworldly. Now the Creek of Culling sings the Verdant Requiem for every competitor who fails - a haunting green hymn that echoes across the fairways, marking the boundary between the evolved and the extinct. The stone that bears this name is all that remains of that first victim, saturated with the hunger of all who have followed.
The Verdant Requiem manifests as a smooth, river-worn stone roughly the size of a disc golf marker. Its surface is dark green-black, mottled with lighter mossy patches that seem to shift and breathe when unwatched. Tiny fossilized impressions of human faces crowd one side of the stone, their expressions frozen in silent screams. When held, the stone pulses with a cold, wet rhythm like a heartbeat, and faint bioluminescent veins glow beneath the surface. It absorbs moisture from the surrounding air, leaving a faint trail of water droplets wherever it rests.
The Verdant Requiem serves as both warning and executioner - it manifests on a player's Morph Tag when they approach elimination, glowing brighter with verdant light as their position becomes more precarious. Those who carry the Requiem can feel the cold touch of the Creek drawing near, sensing when rivals approach the threshold. If they are culled, the Requiem claims them fully, and their essence joins the green hunger that waits forever in the waters.
