The Obsidian Aperture appears as a vertical slit of impossible darkness hovering above the center of Johnny Disc Golf Course. Its surface never reflects light but seems to drink in everything around it. It changes opacity based on competitive intensity - widening when the competition heats up and narrowing when players fail to demonstrate geometric precision. Faint veins of amber luminescence pulse through its crystalline depths like ancient circuitry, and it records all observations in its eternal memory. When a bag tag changes hands, the aperture pulses with a crystalline tone that echoes across the cosmos.

The Obsidian Aperture serves as the cosmic judge's instrument - it opens to admit the worthy into the next round of observation and closes to seal the fate of those who fail the geometric test.
