Aspects refreshed Jul 31, 2026

The Dire Omen manifests when a raider survives three consecutive incursions into the vault without claiming treasure - the dragon's attention turning toward them as a future victim or champion. Each appearance marks a threshold crossed, a moment when the Hoard's ancient intelligence takes note of a challenger's persistence.

Appears as a jagged fragment of black iron no larger than a throwing card, etched with angular runes that seem to shift when viewed indirectly. The surface is warm to the touch, as if holding a dying ember, and it emits a faint hum that can be felt through the fingertips. The iron grows heavier when the bearer approaches water hazards, as if the dragon's attention intensifies near its defensive elements.

Dire Omen bearers become magnets for the vault's most dangerous challenges, drawing the Hoard's highest-stakes trials toward themselves. This creates a unique dynamic where the tag represents both prestige and peril - the bearer has proven they can survive the dragon's notice, and now must prove they can survive its focused attention.
