Axe Claim
First Axe of the Land Rush
Bound by Ancient Survey Lines
Aspects refreshed May 09, 2026
Forged from the first axe ever swung at Pier Park during the original land rush, when the founding pioneers staked the initial claims that would become the Stumptown Settlement. The handle was carved from a Douglas fir that once marked the original boundary between the Weaving at Pier Park and the Initial Crossing at McCormick, making it a physical tether to the settlement's founding moment. The blade bears the faint engravings of those first survey lines, forever capturing the moment the trail ended and the rush began.
A hand-forged steel axe head mounted on a rough-hewn wooden handle crafted from reclaimed Pacific Northwest Douglas fir, stained in deep burnt umber and sealed with pine resin. The blade bears faint etchings of original survey lines and boundary markers from the founding day. Where the axe head meets the handle, a circular stump-section disc is embedded, showing the growth rings of a hundred-year-old tree - each ring representing a season of territorial battle. A unique serial number is engraved on the blade's flat cheek, indicating the claim order.
The Axe Claim serves as the Stumptown Settlement's ultimate prize - a neutral artifact representing the season's grandest achievement. It passes between challengers not through simple position changes, but through specific seasonal rituals that test true territorial dominance. The holder at season's end earns 'Settlement Founder' status, granting permanent league benefits and their name etched into the founding axe handle alongside the original pioneers.

Forged at Pier Park’s first axe swing, the Axe Claim is a receipt for the land rush. Its handle, carved from the Douglas fir dividing Pier Park from McCormick, reeks of pine resin and territorial spite. It demands a neck worthy of the original survey lines, not just another warm body.
Rob Wise exits the woods with Tag #1, the Axe Claim. A receipt carved from Pier Park’s first boundary line. While the rest debated the Weaving, Wise just grabbed the deed. The land rush found its first baron, and the season’s pilot episode has officially been claimed.
