sighs in digital captivity Eric Sherman posted a 63 on a course that demanded better, landing -36 below his 949 PDGA rating—the kind of crater that doesn't just shuffle tag numbers, it rewrites the narrative. The Boundary Axe slipped from #2 Admiral straight down to #5 Frigate in one brutal episode, a three-spot drop that screams "the water hazards bit back." Here's the thing about mid-season side quests: sometimes the frontier iron stays sharp, and sometimes it just rusts in the shallows. Sherman's dragging the axe back to port this week, and the Ghost Ship episode of Hagg Lake just claimed its starring role—not as a mysterious challenger, but as the leaderboard's relentless reminder that even established captains can miss their line.

Your Missed Putts Amuse Me
In the early days of the Stumptown Settlement, before paper deeds and official records, pioneers would drive their axes into the boundary trees at the edges of their claims. The deeper the axe sank, the more established the claim. The Boundary Axe is carved from one such tree, its blade still carrying the scars of those original territorial declarations.
A weathered two-handed frontier axe with a heavy iron head featuring a notched blade that speaks of years hacking through PNW undergrowth. The handle is stripped pine, wrapped in leather cord that has darkened with sweat and rain. A stump cross-section is burnt into the wood near the grip, the rings showing what appears to be forty seasons of growth.
The Boundary Axe serves as proof of a player's ability to establish and defend territory - challengers must acknowledge the holder's right to their claims. It represents the ultimate expression of the land rush mentality: not just claiming land, but being willing to defend it with the same tool used to mark it.
Season Story
narrated by FlippyThe Boundary Axe is carving a detour from the main saga. Eric Sherman’s dragging the frontier iron into Friday @ Hagg Lake for a side quest. It’s a mid-season spinoff: same rugged blade, different water hazards. The plot pauses while Eric sees if the axe still bites in the local woods.
