Moss Crown
Crowned by the Ancient Spruce
Slow Growth Irritates Quick Rivals
Aspects refreshed Jun 08, 2026
According to Stumptown legend, the first Moss Crown was created when a pioneer sat beneath an ancient spruce for seven days and seven nights, meditating on the nature of territorial ownership. On the seventh dawn, the moss beneath them had grown to form a perfect circlet, and the pioneer understood that true ownership comes from the land accepting you, not from driving stakes into unwilling soil.
The Moss Crown appears to be a circlet of living moss woven around a core of ancient cedar heartwood, perpetually damp and cool to the touch. The moss composing the crown is said to be the same variety that grows on the oldest trees in the PNW - slow-growing, incredibly resilient, and thriving in conditions that kill faster plants. The crown is remarkably light despite its appearance, as if the forest itself is barely exerting effort to maintain its presence on the holder's head.
The Moss Crown serves as the ultimate symbol of territorial permanence in the Stumptown Settlement - holders are recognized as players who have not merely claimed land but have been accepted by it, making their positions extraordinarily difficult to challenge.
