Sap Runs Hot Your Challenge Amuses Me Grows Darker With Victory

Aspects refreshed Jun 09, 2026

According to Stumptown legend, when the first pioneers arrived at the McCormick River, they carved their promises to the land into a single cedar post and drove it into the muddy banks. That post became the original Timber Covenant - a living agreement between humanity and the wilderness that still binds all who hold the tag to the land they claim.

The Timber Covenant appears as a weathered wooden token, roughly the size of a palm, suspended from a leather cord stained with mud and river water. Its surface bears carved symbols that shift depending on the holder's current territorial standing - when their claim is strong, the grain flows upward like growing trees; when weak, the pattern droops like wilting branches. The token is warm to the touch, and faint lines of sap pulse through its surface like veins. It grows darker with each successful defense, cannot be stolen - only earned through territorial defense - and shows the holder's territorial history in its grain pattern.

The Timber Covenant represents the binding agreement between all pioneers - its presence in a league reminds all players that their claims are part of a larger system of mutual recognition, creating connections between otherwise competing territories and establishing the foundational rules of the Stumptown land rush.
