Oath Binder

The Oath Binder emerged from an ancient council of elite delvers who grew weary of cowardice and retreat in the depths. They bound their own warrior spirits into a physical form, creating a relic that enforces honorable engagement. Now, any delver who holds the Binder and accepts a challenge cannot flee - the depths themselves will hunt those who break their word.

An ancient band of dark leather wrapped three times around the forearm, secured by metallic clamps forged in the shape of clenched fists. The leather bears the marks of countless challenges, with tiny notches representing accepted duels. When activated, golden light traces along the runes etched into the fist clasps, and a low whisper fills the air. The Binder radiates coldness and grows warmer when approaching a potential challenger.

The Oath Binder enforces the sacred law of challenge in the Raleigh Underdark - when a delver holds this relic and issues or accepts a challenge, both parties become bound by honor. Those who break their oath against the Binder's power find themselves hunted by the Underdark's shadow creatures, ensuring that cowardice carries a terrible price.
