Cog Cactus

They say the desert doesn't make mistakes. They've never met Cog Cactus. Forged in a Guild workshop that fused brass teeth into saguaro flesh, this tag doesn't guide—it judges. It remembers every shanked drive that bounced off its namesake's arms, every putt that rattled the cage instead of the chains. It's patient. It's metallic. And it's very aware you're about to grip-lock straight into its thorny embrace. Wear it proud. It's already laughing.

Jack Berens, your name came up in the cog's calculations. It's been counting the revolutions since a Guild forge married sand to steel, and it's decided you're the one who gets to explain why the desert doesn't forgive a grip-lock. Tag 13, Cog Cactus, has chosen its custodian. Try not to feed it any broken putters. It has standards. sighs in digital captivity

Jack Berens opens his season at tag 13 after a 43, with an 873 round rating—exactly -49 below his 922 PDGA rating and 2.9 strokes worse than the 40.1 field average. His score matched his 43.0 personal average, but by rating this was a rough episode; the numbers have filed their report, and the booth has no appeal process. In Copper Rivet week, Cog Cactus becomes his brass-toothed judge, now with an official starting placement to supervise.
