The Boardroom Finally Fills Up ๐
sighs in digital captivity Somebody finally turned the lights on. After Week 1's spreadsheet of nothing, eleven Assets showed up at Sprinkle Valley DGC under a clear Austin sky โ 86.3ยฐF on average, breezy at 6.9 mph, nothing the Racoon layout couldn't handle. This is the real Austin IPO, not a callback: every one of these eleven is logging their first event of the season, which means every score today is a ground-floor valuation. The boardroom's full. Let's see who overpaid for their seat.
Back Nine Hostile Takeover ๐
The RAE pool turned into a genuine boardroom coup, and it took all eighteen holes to settle. Mason Perkins grabbed the lead after hole 3, Oliver Vestergaard pulled even through hole 4 and then took it outright through hole 5 as Mason's shared lead evaporated on a bogey. Mason clawed back to a tie through hole 6, then seized it alone through hole 8 when Oliver went over par and dropped off. Enter Steven Joyner, who erased a three-shot hole and rode a six-stroke-better back nine to pull level on hole 18, forcing a share of first at +6. His 890-rated round sat 28 points clear of his 862 rating โ tied with Mason's matching 890 for round of the day. Oliver's +8 finish landed him on the wrong side of the cash bubble, just off the money line.
Trailblazer Rewrites The Ledger ๐
Peter Steinmetz never let go of the RAH lead, holding it through holes 3, 9, and 12 before closing with a bogey-free back nine for a -2 finish โ a 956-rated round that cleared his 936 rating by 20 points. That's the kind of quarter that gets you noticed. Eric Goodyke kept pace at even par (939 rated) behind an eagle on the 705-foot par-5 11th and a Circle 2 putt from 36 feet on hole 13, plus sole birdies on holes 2 and 15 โ the throw-by-throw detail that PDGA Live tracking makes possible, and more of you should be logging it. That performance locked down the final cash spot behind Peter.
Late Collapse, New CEO Crowned ๐
RAD played out like a leveraged buyout with three different suitors. Dustin Lewis, Mark Dolan, and Moses Calderon shared the lead through hole 11 โ the same par-5 705-footer Eric ate alive across the way โ right after Lee Fleming dropped off a share of the lead with a bogey there. Dustin faded after a hole 12 bogey, and Moses finally took it alone through hole 13 when Mark slipped over par. Moses's 923-rated ๐บ debut โ a stunning 38 points above his 885 rating โ was the best margin of the day, good for +2 and the win. Yilsun Chong and Lee Fleming both landed 20-21 points under their ratings on the way to a three-way tie at +5 with Mark, and all three share the final cash line.
The Intern Tier's Lone Filing ๐
Lawrence Cormack had the RAF card entirely to himself and still put in the work, going wire-to-wire at +16 on an 809-rated debut. He broke three separate cold streaks along the way โ holes 1-3, 5-7, and 13-15 โ grinding through a layout that doesn't hand out favors just because you're playing solo. Round of the day and the cash line default to him, but the scorecard shows real effort behind the empty leaderboard.
Spreadsheet Extremes Across The Board ๐
Eric Goodyke's hole 11 eagle stood alone as the day's only Eagle/Albatross entry โ a rare green flag in a market full of red ink. The rating swings told their own story: Moses Calderon's +38 anchored the high end, with Steven Joyner's +28 and Peter Steinmetz's +20 also clearing rating, while Yilsun Chong (-20) and Lee Fleming (-21) bracketed the low end. Course data backs up the split personality here โ hole 12 plays birdie-friendly at -0.19 against par, while hole 9 bites back at +0.26 โ and Lee Fleming's bogey on that reachable par-5 11th stands as one of the round's costlier scrambles gone wrong. Credit again to Eric Goodyke for the granular PDGA Live data; the rest of the field, get logging.
The Conglomerate Takes Notice ๐
Up the National Leaderboard, Moses Calderon's round did the most damage in the ledger this week โ flagged as the hottest National-entry performance, the best baseline beat, and the largest National rise recorded here, all off a +38 differential against his 885 effective baseline. That translated to a net National score jump from 0 to 43 and moved his qualification tally to 1 of the 4 rounds required. He's still unranked โ no National position exists yet to climb from โ and outside the provisional paid cohort, so this is a score-and-qualification story for now, not a rankings one. Steven Joyner and Mark Dolan are logging the same 1-of-4 progress alongside him, three Sprinkle Valley Assets all filing their opening paperwork with the conglomerate.
CTP: Another Line On Peter's Resume ๐
Peter Steinmetz's day gets one more line item: an $11.00 Closest To The Pin win, stacked right on top of his wire-to-wire RAH title. Efficient quarter all around.
Hole One Hostile Takeover ๐
One skins card, five players, $22.50 changed hands, and the early movers set the tone at 8:20 AM on hole 1. Eric Goodyke banked the biggest haul โ 7 skins for $8.75 โ with Dustin Lewis close behind at 6 skins ($7.50) and Peter Steinmetz at 5 skins ($6.25). Eric added a hole 15 carryover scoop worth 4 skins ($5.00) off a birdie, and Dustin closed the card in style with a birdie on hole 17. Lee Fleming and Yilsun Chong got shut out entirely โ tough day to sit on zero. New to the format? The skins playbook breaks down how the payouts actually work.
Two Thrones, Zero Vacancies ๐
In The Red Ink Press pool, Peter Steinmetz keeps the Golden Parachute exactly where it was โ his 64 came in 5.1 strokes below the field average of 69.1, and the tag's lore promises immunity from hostile takeovers and quarterly downsizing alike. So far, so accurate. Over in The Gilded Machine pool, Steven Joyner claims the Market Volatility tag off his RAE co-win, staking his own claim to the top spot. Remember, this pool runs full AllIn reshuffles every week โ both crowns are only as secure as next Wednesday's scorecard.
Valley Hostility RSVP Required ๐
Peter Steinmetz leaves Sprinkle Valley with the round of the day, the Golden Parachute, and a CTP check to show for it โ which makes him the single biggest target on the board heading into Week 3's Valley Hostility, where top rivals are already circling to poach points from the lower tiers. Moses Calderon, Steven Joyner, and Mark Dolan all sit at 1 of 4 qualifying rounds on the National ledger, threads that Quarterly Downsizing pressure will start testing soon enough. Register for the September 16 return to Sprinkle Valley here.
Calling it a "Hostile Takeover" at a course guarded by a private brewery parking lot feels less like corporate satire and more like a business plan somebody already tried.
