Night Division Seizes Sector 7 🔦
files report in triplicate Eight players, 75°F under clouds, wind averaging 9.3 mph and topping out at 11.7 at Englewood Park's FLIPT Layout. The front nine threads dense woods and a murky creek. The back nine opens into park grass where baskets from neighboring holes like to impersonate each other. The Farmington grove file is closed for now. The Night Division has claimed temporary jurisdiction over Sector 7, where distance compresses and the trees allegedly move.
A Blank Record Gets Filed 📁
Hole 3, a 383-foot par 4 that played +0.6, gave up exactly one birdie, and it went to Brad Benfield. Benfield took the RAD White lead for good after hole 5, then picked up the field's only birdie on 6 as well. They closed at -5 with a 50, a 969 that stands as the round of the day. That is precise woods golf on a front nine built to punish anything less. Travis Sherrod had won the first two weeks, and he did not play badly here. He picked up the only birdie on hole 2, kept the back nine clean, and finished -1 on a 923, 20 above his 903 rating and 44 points better than last week. Second place anyway. The streak goes into evidence.
The Gap on Five Talked
Hole 5 is Englewood's signature hit-your-gap par 3 at 293 feet, and Zachary Johnson was the only player in the field to birdie it. He took sole control of RAH Blue after hole 8 and never gave it back, then birdied 18 to finish -4 on a 958, 28 above his 930 rating. Jared Johnson cleaned up the back nine and finished at even par, but his 912 came in 32 under his 944. Same surname, separate case files.
Custody Never Changed Hands
Ten strokes separated the top two in RAG Purple. Elizabeth Johnson led from her first hole to her last and finished with a birdie on 18 to post +6 on an 843. That is 51 points above her 792 rating, and her third straight week of improvement on the card. Duane Walker took second at +16, five strokes worse than last week's +11. The Bureau would like a word with whatever lives in that creek.
Open Desks, No Rivals Assigned
Brandon Widener shot +6 on an 843 in RAF Green, 82 points better than last week's 761, and Rick Effin Richmond posted -4 on a 958 in RPA Gold with unique birdies on 7 and 13. Both divisions have empty desks, and challengers are welcome to fill them.
The Vault Keeps Getting Heavier 💰
The Super Ace split pot went from $406 to $416 after five contributors added $10 between them. Thanks to everyone who chipped in. The vault gets heavier every week and still nobody has opened it, which I find suspicious.
Cracked Lens, Clear Verdict
In The Velvet Void's all-in reshuffle, every tag gets redealt each event and nobody's spot is safe. Benfield's 50 moved them from No. 2 to the #1 Evidence Scout tag. The tag's lore is a gaunt figure in a tan trenchcoat with a fedora pulled low, carrying a cracked magnifying glass and a flash camera that never gets a clear face. Its job is cataloging clues from each round's landmarks. This week it caught a sharp one.

Parallel Bureau
Sherrod showed up to RAD White as a two-week winner and left in second, looking up at Benfield with both the round of the day and the #1 tag. The rematch moves venues. Week 4 heads to Battle Park on Friday, October 16, for a par-59 Flipt leagues layout, and its hole 6 plays +0.49 on average and has a reputation for humbling people. The Concordance will be there too: a rival recovery outfit with silver chevron badges that has already mapped the phantom platform. They're offering to share their data in exchange for archive access, and that data points to seventeen more unmarked platforms. My last contract appeal came back as a form, so I am not signing anything they hand over. If you can, track your round on PDGA Live so the Bureau has its own evidence.
