adjusts glasses Five players showed up to Cedar Hills for Week 1 of Second Breakfast, and the sky responded with a 100% chance of rain and gusts up to 12.8 mph โ welcome to the fellowship, pack a poncho. This is the season premise in full: the Fellowship of the Second Breakfast, walking an unfamiliar course together for the first time and slapping new names on old trees โ the Tunnel of Cedars, the Ford of Whispering Creek, the Ridge of Second Sight. Nobody's Tag changed hands today. Every number strapped to every chest is still untested, provisional, unearned โ precioussss, but unproven. Coming next: the land shows it changes, and someone who rose this week takes a setback.
Wire-to-Wire and Nobody to Race ๐
RPA was a field of exactly one, and Bradley Bushman made it count anyway โ a wire-to-wire -7 backed by a 970-rated round, the best number posted anywhere at Cedar Hills today. His hot streak cooled off across holes 14-17, the only blemish on an otherwise uncontested coronation. With no rival on the card, he locked the cash line and 1st overall by simply showing up and being excellent. One Tag to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them... to a Tuesday night time limit.
Resilience After the Hole 8 Ambush ๐ฒ
Cameron Collar posted RAD's best number at -3 on a 922-rated round, opening with a front nine three strokes clean of his back. Hole 8 ambushed him like the fog gate it's billed as, but he answered immediately โ two strokes under across the next three holes โ then boarded a six-hole par train from 12 through 17 and closed with a bogey-free back nine. Clean golf, cold consolation: he landed 2nd, agonizingly outside the cash line.
The Rookie Slays the Fog Gate ๐ซ๏ธ
Jeremy Collar debuted in RAF and walked away Division Winner at +10 on a 766-rated round, picking up First Time Player and Series Competitor honors in the same breath. His day opened rough โ a cold stretch from holes 2-4 โ but he thawed out to deliver the sole birdie of the entire event on Hole 8, the course's boss-fight hole, while the rest of the field scrambled and settled. Front nine ran four strokes better than the back. Not a bad first quest.
The Birdie Trade War ๐ฆ
RAE gave us the tightest storyline of the day. Devin Drinan grabbed the lead after Hole 4 with the division's only birdie there and never let go, finishing E overall on an 886-rated round โ wire-to-wire, an eight-hole par train from 11 through 18, and a bogey-free back nine to seal it. Brandon Mayes fired back with sole birdies of his own on Hole 7 and Hole 13, plus a front nine three strokes better than his back, but settled for 2nd at +3 on an 850-rated round. You shall not pass... the cut without a 950-rated round, and neither one got there โ but it was close.
The Only Soul to Beat the Boss ๐ก๏ธ
Cedar Hills' Hole 8 lived up to its Elden Ring reputation across every division โ a 7.4/10 Difficulty Index and +0.83 over par on average โ and Jeremy Collar's lone birdie stood as the only sub-par score logged there all day. Hole 15 played its chill-side-quest role exactly as advertised. Add in the rain and 12.8 mph gusts, and Devin Drinan's bogey-free back nine plus Cameron Collar's clean closing stretch look even better in hindsight. More players tracking their throws on PDGA Live next week means richer scramble and putting stories for me to dramatize โ consider this your invitation.
No Aces, But the Treasure Chest Fattens ๐ฐ
No one splashed an ace this week, but the Super Ace Pot kept climbing regardless โ five contributors at $10 each pushed the pot from $236.00 to $246.00. Untouched and growing, heading into Week 2. Someone's going to hit chains eventually, and that payout just keeps getting sweeter for whoever it is.
The Fund Grows Like the Hills โฐ๏ธ
This event's five players contributed $2.50 through registration fees, nudging the Cedar Hills Course Fund to $201.65 raised โ 20% of its $1,000.00 goal, with $798.35 still to go. No Tag Is Safe, Except This One ๐ก๏ธ
Under AllIn reshuffle rules, every tag in the pool redistributes based on standings, and absence is a one-way ticket to the back of the line. The Shadowpine Marker, Pool B's #1, was on the table โ and Devin Drinan simply showed up and defended it the hard way, riding his wire-to-wire RAE win to keep the tag exactly where it started.  No dramatic takeover this week, just proof that the reshuffle can't touch you if you play like that.
Mossy Threshold
Bradley's cooled streak at 14-17, Cameron's heartbreak on the cash bubble, Devin's iron grip on the Shadowpine Marker โ all of it sets the table for Week 2's Mossy Threshold at Cedar Hills, Blue layout, Skip 8/Play 13B. The map has already proven it's provisional: overnight rain turns the Tunnel of Cedars into a fairway-swallowing bog, a hidden shortcut through the undergrowth gets discovered, and this time the Tags are finally going to change hands as the fellowship sorts itself into new ranks.
A disc golf course that fights back with actual mud warfare โ sure, why not, at this point I'd believe the trees have opinions too.
