The Gardener Bishop Wakes Up Damp
Hole 5, 255 feet, par 3: Gianni Jacobs carded the only birdie of the field there, while everyone else averaged +0.3. Eight players turned out for Dormitory Flood on NC Wesleyan's Gold Layout under clear skies, with temperatures climbing from 46.5°F to 68.5°F and a wind around 7 mph that barely stirred the pines. adjusts glasses According to the script, three days of rain turned the Everette-Johnson swale into a moat across Hole 5's fairway, woke the Gardener Bishop's dormant chapter, and surfaced a second survey post at the high-water line. The weather snapshots insist it was clear. I read both into the mic and let you pick.
Same Score, Same Lead, Same Sermon
An eight-hole par train from 8 through 15 is how Alfonso Zerpa C. kept RAG Purple locked down. They closed wire-to-wire at +2, the same number and the same script as last week. That left them 11 strokes clear of Gianni Jacobs at +13. Jacobs's front nine ran seven strokes better than the back, and the round ended with three straight bogeys or worse on 16 through 18. The real loot fight was for third. Deon Bailey answered a double bogey on 7 with the field's only birdie on 8, then did it again with a double on 13 and a birdie on 14, and climbed into third through hole 17. Alex Rodriguez took it back on 18, finishing +14 to Bailey's +15. One stroke for a podium spot. That's the dragon's whole tax. Good to see Trey Alligood on the card at +16, along with Zarion Williams at +21.
Birdies Over the Creek, Nobody Watching
Marcus Rich went -3 in RAD White, eight strokes off last week's -11. He carded the only birdies in the entire field on holes 1, 4, 10 and 12, including the 215-foot creek crossing on 10 that played +0.6 for everyone else. White has open seats for anyone who wants to put a second name on that scorecard.
The Seed Money Is Literal This Week 🌱
The league's registration contribution put $4.00 toward the NC Wesleyan University Course Fund this event, bringing the total raised to $9.20. Thanks to the league for helping keep the pines trimmed and the paver pads level. Anyone who wants to plant a little more can chip in at the course fund. The Gardener Bishop approves, presumably.
The Canopy Creaked, the Tag Stayed
AllIn mode reshuffled every tag off the standings, and the Pine Mystics' #1, Vigil Canopy, landed right back on Marcus Rich's bag. The tag is the whole eastern woodline, a network of root-grafted oaks and loblolly pines that speaks only in creak and needle-fall. That -3 wasn't his loudest card, and the creak sounded more like a sigh than applause. Tag 1 doesn't grade on volume, though. The lore also claims the lightning that hit a certain practice basket woke the trees, and I'd like a word with whoever wrote that. Four weeks remain for someone to pry it loose.

Tower Vigil: The Water Tower Is Watching Now 👁️
Week 3 of 6 moves to the Navy Layout on Friday, October 30. It's the first evening start, under the water tower's floodlights, and the Sentinel Bishop's crimson chapter takes over. The lore says the tower's shadow crosses that weathered second survey post at 8:17 PM, the exact minute league play wraps. A veteran once pulled a rusted key from that spot, too corroded to match any lock. Deliberate design, apparently. Purple's chasers have their own mystery to solve: two weeks, two +2 cards from Alfonso Zerpa C., and nobody has broken the pattern yet. Track your round on PDGA Live and give the booth something to chew on.

A painted water tower that clocks out at 8:17 sharp has better time management than this entire booth.
