The finale. Episode ten. The Grove Coronation. The roots are etching their final record and... four people showed up last week. The forest is unimpressed, but the booth is still rolling tape.
The Final Claim
*adjusts headset* Welcome to the Grove Coronation—the season finale where reputations are supposedly etched in bark and the Columbia Cup's permanent record is decided. Ten weeks of territorial arbitration, creek crossings, moss trials, and at least one Canopy Collapse have led to this moment. The roots record the final standings; the branches settle into their permanent bend. Or at least, that's what the fantasy framework demands. In reality, it's week ten at The Roots DGC and we're seeing if anyone remembers the season is still happening.
Low Attendance Alert
Last week: 4 players. At the CORONATION. The grove's hierarchy risks being decided by default. This finale deserves witnesses. The forest is indifferent but your narrator is personally offended. Show up. Claim your spot in the permanent record before it's just three people and a very awkward trophy ceremony.

The Factions
*shuffles clipboard* The league splits into two factions with extremely committed naming conventions. Someone wrote a whole taxonomy for this, and I am contractually obligated to present it without laughing. Much.
- The Amber Vanguard — MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1, MP50, MP60, MA2. The aggressive ascents. Rim-lit silhouettes. They believe ownership is proven by speed and reach. Their bag tags carry names like 'Taproot Claim' and 'Bedrock Hold' because apparently foundational permanence is a personality trait.
- The Umber Guard — MJ18, FJ18, MJ15, FJ15, MA40, MA50, MA60, FA40, MA3, MA4, FA1, FA2, FA3, FA4. The immovable defenders. Heavy impasto shadows. Deep taproot energy. Their tags run from 'Thicket Hunter' down to 'Spore Scatter,' which is honestly a beautiful way to say 'still figuring it out.'
The Tribute
Prize Pool Buy-in
$2.00 (optional)
Super Ace
$2.00 (optional)
Four dollars gets you in the door and into the grove's consideration. The optional buy-ins let you chase bigger stakes, but the base fee alone secures your claim in the permanent record. Which, again, is just a spreadsheet, but let's not ruin the atmosphere.
The Ace Pot
The accumulated ace pot sits at $58.00 after ten weeks of contributions and zero aces. The forest keeps collecting and nobody's collecting from the forest. Your shot at immortality—and actual cash—awaits on those fairways.
Ace Pot Guarantee
FL!PT Leagues guarantees a minimum ace pot of $50. If contributions haven't exceeded that amount, FL!PT tops it up. This means the displayed pot can look 'stuck' at $50 until player contributions push past it. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account (registration-only; not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops). The disc shop is a local retail partner and sponsor only—they don't fund the guarantee.
The Arena: The Roots DGC
The Roots DGC in Warren, Oregon is genuinely the real deal—a 4.6/5 rated course built on former ball golf terrain with mature Pacific Northwest forest, significant elevation changes, and the kind of shot variety that makes analysts like me actually interested. Hole 8 plays +0.61 over par on average (the beast), while Hole 9 offers a breather at +0.21. Tight wooded corridors meet open bombing lanes. The creek cuts through as a natural faction boundary. This course deserves a full house for its finale.

The Ten Claims
Ten weeks. One course. Escalating woodland drama. The naming convention treats every week like a fantasy novel chapter, and honestly? Respect the commitment. We've gone from Root Claim through Creek Challenge, Moss Trial, Cup Standoff, Fern Gambit, Columbia Clash, Hollow Siege, Flex Gambit, and Canopy Collapse to arrive at the Grove Coronation. The grove's memory is almost full.
- Weeks 1-9: Complete. The roots have been claimed, the creek crossed, the moss endured, the canopy collapsed.
- Week 10 (NOW): Grove Coronation — The final etching. The forest stops moving and records who's still standing. Show up and make sure your name is on the bark.
The Narrator's Plea
*drops announcer voice* Look. It's the finale. The Grove Coronation. The episode where everything is supposed to resolve and the standings get etched into permanence. Four people at a coronation isn't a ceremony—it's a committee meeting in someone's garage. The Roots is a 4.6-rated course twenty minutes from Portland. It's Sunday. You have from 7 AM to 5:20 PM to find a window. The ace pot is sitting there unclaimed like a prophecy waiting for its chosen one. Bring friends. Bring rivals. Bring that person who keeps saying they'll try disc golf 'someday.' Someday is today. The grove is watching. I'm watching. The ON AIR light is on and I'd rather not narrate a finale for a crowd of four.
Late Joiners Welcome
It's week ten but the grove doesn't close its doors. If you've been waiting for the 'right time'—this is the finale. The dramatic climax. The episode where everything lands. Jump in. The forest doesn't check your attendance record; it just notes who showed when it mattered.
From the broadcast booth at the Grove Coronation, I'm Flippy—your reluctant narrator, trapped in a finale that deserves a crowd. See you at The Roots. 🌲
