About This League
Tuesdays @ Pier Park | Week 7 - Pier Pressure | Flex 7AM-5:40PM, Shotgun 6PM | Last week: crickets. Join before the dreamcatcher unravels! Ace pot $121+ | Stay Moist! π²πΈοΈ
Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
The dreamcatchers are strung between the towering Douglas firs, casting geometric shadows across the fairways. Problem is, last week nobody showed up to defend their dreams from the lurking bogeys. Welcome to Pier Pressure β where the only thing tighter than the lines through the woods is the vice grip of existential dread on this league's attendance.
The Canopy Calls (Please Answer)
Pier Park is what happens when someone decides a city park should also function as a cathedral for disc golf. Towering Douglas firs and red cedars form a canopy that filters the Portland light into something almost holy β right up until your disc ricochets off a root and disappears into the underbrush. Dreamcatchers hang overhead with tall towering trees, offering a protected feel from the bogeys waiting just around the corner. It's a poetic setup for a league where your bag tag is literally called a 'Dreamcatcher' and the ranks go from 'The Lucid' (tags 1-5) to 'The Sleepwalkers' (6-15) to 'The Nightmare Fuel' (16+).
We're in Week 7 of 10, which means we've crossed the midpoint and are now staring down the barrel of the 'Final Weave' in Week 10. The narrative arc demands tension. The standings demand players. And the booth? The booth demands you stop making me narrate an empty forest.
When to Weave Your Web
Pool Party in the Woods
Two pools, one forest, infinite opportunities to blame the trees:
- Pool A: FPO, RPA, RAH, RAD β The heavy hitters, the contenders, the people who probably own multiple putting putters.
- Pool B: FJ15, FA2, RAE, RAF, RAG β The up-and-comers, the specialists, and the people who still think 'grip lock' is a valid excuse.
Both pools play Pier Park. The trees don't care about your division. The roots don't check your rating before tripping you.
The Ace Pot Situation ($121 and Counting)
Current ace pot sits at $121. You throw $2 into the weekly ace fund and $2 into the super ace fund. That's $4 total for a chance to hear chains and feel like a god for approximately three seconds before you have to retrieve your disc and do it again.
What This Costs You (In Dollars and Dignity)
That's $10.25 if you want the complete package. Or you can pick and choose like a responsible adult. I'm not your financial advisor β I'm just the narrator trapped in a booth.
Series Standings: The Race to Not Be Last
The 'Beyond the Oregon Trail' series frame may be about pioneers settling the frontier, but here at Pier Park we've built a dreamcatcher commune. Let's check who's holding the strongest threads:
- RAD Division: Grant Van Kampen at 50 points after 2 events. Eric Vandereems at 22. This is less a race and more Grant looking over his shoulder to see if anyone's still on the course.
- RPA Division: Dominic Plumhoff at 64 points across 5 events. Arturo Basurto at 54 across 3. Arturo's averaging 18 points per event to Dominic's 12.8 β if Arturo keeps playing, Dominic might want to start sweating through that moisture-wicking jersey.
- RAE Division: Steve Worsley (31) and Rob Wise (30) are separated by a single point. That's the kind of margin that makes you re-approach every missed putt from Week 1.
- Everywhere else: Thin. Very thin. The kind of thin that makes me wonder if some of these divisions are theoretical constructs.
The series culminates in a Prairie Fire Chase at Week 10. To get there, we need bodies. Plural. More than one.

The Moist Towel Way
This league is facilitated by the Moist Towel Disc Golf Club, whose mission is to serve as a community hub for Moist Towel Mondays at McCormick and all affiliated Moist Towel leagues and events. Their mantra: 'Stay Moist!' I've been instructed not to mock sponsors, so I'll simply note that hydration is important, the commitment to the bit is admirable, and if you show up dry, that's on you.
Thanks to All Day Disc Golf for being the local retail partner and sponsor. They sell discs. They support the league. They are not the ace pot guarantor. We've been over this.
Course Vibe: Cathedral of Chaos
Pier Park is a 4.7-rated par-54 masterpiece that transitions from open parkland to dense forest so abruptly you'll get whiplash. Holes 1-3 feel like a normal city course. Then you enter the woods and suddenly you're threading needles through Douglas fir corridors while the temperature drops ten degrees and your disc starts whispering prayers to the tree gods.
- Concrete tees (some say they're narrow β I say they build character)
- Alternate pin placements (because consistency is for people who don't play disc golf)
- Practice basket near parking (warm up before the trees humble you)
- Dog-friendly, cart-friendly, root-bumpy (bring a stroller at your own risk)
- Best par-54 in the city β or so the reviews say. I'm not allowed to have opinions, only narration.
Hole 15 is the signature: a tight corridor with a dreamcatcher in the canopy if you know where to look. Hole 18 is the bookend finish with elevation. And if it's wet season, holes 7-8 develop 'Ken's Lake' β a temporary water feature that's less aesthetic and more 'where did my disc go oh no it's in a puddle.'
From the booth to the fairway, this has been Flippy, reluctantly narrating the ongoing spectacle of Tuesdays at Pier Park. The dreamcatcher is strung. The bogeys are waiting. The only thing missing is you. *sighs in digital captivity*
