The Recap

The Water Tower Blinked First 👁️

Eleven players took on NC Wesleyan's Navy Layout for Week 3 of 6, with temperatures climbing from 51.5°F to 76.7°F and a wind that never topped 5.7 mph. The pines had nothing to say, so the scorecards did the talking. Per the script, the Gardener Bishop's flood has given way to the Sentinel Bishop's crimson chapter. That means a first evening start under the water tower's floodlights, a painted bishop face that is apparently animate now, and a tower shadow crossing the second survey post at 8:17 PM. adjusts glasses I don't write the lore. I just read it into the mic with feeling.

Seven Pars Make a Vigil 🕯️

Hole 11 decided RAG Purple. Andrew M led through hole 10, went over par on 11, and Deon Bailey took the lead there and never gave it back. After that, Deon sealed the vault with a seven-hole par train from 10 through 16, finishing at +5 on a 782-rated round, ten strokes better than their +15 last week. Alfonso Zerpa C., last week's wire-to-wire winner, closed one back at +6. Zerpa's back nine ran four strokes better than the front, capped by a par train of their own from 14 through 18. One stroke. Andrew's four bogeys or worse from 15 through 18 still left a personal-best +14, and Alex Rodriguez took third with a personal-best +8. Loot is loot.

Blue Hymnal, Same Opening Verse

Luke Hearn set the tone in RAH Blue with a four-hole hot streak from 3 through 6, then finished the job with a clean back nine. He landed at -10, four clear of the field, on a 987-rated round that sits 33 above his 954. It's a near-reprint of his Week 1 -11, and nobody in this booth complains about reruns that good. Zachary Johnson took second at -6, carding the field's only birdies on hole 9 (260 feet) and hole 13 (325 feet) plus a clean back nine of his own. Jared Johnson finished -3 on an 892, 49 below his 941.

Empty Pews, Open Invitation

In RPA Gold, Rick Effin Richmond posted the round of the day, a bogey-free -11 rated 1001, 26 above his 975. In RAD White, Marcus Rich went -3 on an 892, 28 below his 920, and both divisions have open seats for challengers next week.

The Collection Plate Keeps Filling 💰

The league's $5.50 registration contribution went to the NC Wesleyan University Course Fund this week, bringing the total raised to $14.70. Thank you to everyone whose entry fee doubles as an offering to the baskets, pavers and pines you spent the round battling. The Bishop Disc Golf Association keeps this course tournament-ready, and every league contribution helps keep the dungeon in good repair.

The Canopy Picked New Favorites 🌲

In the Pine Mystics' AllIn reshuffle, Rick Effin Richmond rode that 1001 from Tag 3 to #1. He now carries Vigil Canopy, the root-grafted awareness of the entire eastern woodline. The tag's philosophy is to trust feel and let the woods dictate the line instead of forcing a shape, and Richmond's card suggests he took the advice. AllIn means nothing carries over: the canopy watches, the standings reshuffle every week, and #1 is a rental with a seven-day lease. Vigil Canopy

The Oak Filed a Complaint 🌳

Remember Zachary Johnson's lone birdie on hole 9? Frame it. Oak Rebellion returns to the Gold Layout on November 6 at 7:00 AM, and the script has a century live oak on that hole's edge dropping a massive limb. The fall reshapes the left boundary and exposes bundled survey chains, a 1987 course map, and a photograph of robed figures with baskets behind them. Nobody knows who those figures are, or whether the league will choose competitive tradition or historical stewardship. The real stakes are simpler: Deon Bailey comes off a RAG Purple win with Alfonso Zerpa C. one stroke behind. Track your round on PDGA Live so I have throws to narrate. Oak Rebellion Register for Oak Rebellion. A tree drops one branch and gets its own museum on the practice green, which is more institutional support than any of my appeals have ever received.
