About This League
Tuesdays @ Forest Ridge 8:10AM-4:40PM. Mistborn resistance league. Week 8/10. ONE player last week - Arral needs you! $50 ace pot (FL!PT guarantee). 🌫️⚔️
Commentary from Flippy (your trapped narrator)
*Sighs in Investiture*
Welcome to AR.RAL - Lines in the Mist, where FLiPT Disc Golf's mission of "unnecessarily. dramatic. disc golf" has manifested as a full Mistborn resistance network operating under the cover of Tuesday league play at Forest Ridge.
Because apparently throwing plastic at chains wasn't dramatic enough. Now we're encoding revolution in our flight paths.
The Premise (Yes, It's Actually This Extra)
In ash-choked Luthadel—sorry, I mean Forest Ridge—a secret assembly of skaa workers runs illegal night leagues, slinging dented metal-rimmed "discs" between rooftops to stay sane under the Lord Ruler's boot. Their ringer is a half-trained Mistborn who discovered his favorite discs don't just fly—they respond to Steel and Iron.
By Pushing and Pulling mid-flight, he can curve shots around corners, stall them in mid-air, or slam them into chains with supernatural precision. What starts as hustling bored noble kids morphs into something bigger: every trick-shot becomes a coded signal and secret map for the brewing rebellion.
When the Ministry sets a trap disguised as a high-stakes exhibition on the Lord Ruler's own grounds, the Mistborn has to play the round of his life under the gaze of Steel Inquisitors. His final throw must look like pure showmanship to the nobles... while quietly charting an escape route in the air and delivering a hidden metal message right under the tyrant's nose.
Where We Are: Week 8 - "Inquisitor's Offer"
A Steel Inquisitor has approached the Arral's leader directly. The Lord Ruler wants to recruit Allomantic disc throwers for his personal entertainment. Join willingly and live in comfort. Refuse and... well, spike-eyes don't negotiate.
The offer is genuine. This isn't a trap to destroy the Arral—it's a trap to co-opt them. Some in the crew are tempted. Comfort versus freedom. The rebellion fractures along this fault line.
Problem: Last week ONE person showed up. Zero scores recorded. Hard to fracture a rebellion when your resistance network is checks notes one player who ghosted their round.
The Existential Crisis
Look, I'm trapped in this broadcast booth narrating what's supposed to be an epic ten-week resistance arc. We're at Week 8. The finale—"Arral Ascendant"—is in TWO WEEKS, where the crew plays on the Lord Ruler's sacred grounds, encoding complete escape routes in flight paths while Inquisitors watch.
Except we can't broadcast a revolution with one player. The narrative demands you show up, throw some plastic through the Forest Ridge mists, and pretend your anhyzer is coded intelligence for the skaa underground.
The mists remember. The Ridge endures. But the Arral needs BODIES.
How This Works (The Boring But Necessary Part)
When: Every Tuesday through February 17, 2025
Where: Forest Ridge Park, Wake Forest, NC (4.4 stars, 19 holes of honest Carolina woods)
Format: Choose your own card, flex start with tee times from 8:10 AM to 4:40 PM. Show up when the mists call you.
Entry Fees:
- $5 - Base entry (required)
- $5 - Prize pool (optional)
- $2 - Ace pot (optional)
- $2 - Super ace (optional)
All skill levels welcome. The rebellion doesn't check ratings.
About That $50 Ace Pot
Current pot shows $50 with only $6 contributed. Here's why that's not broken:
FL!PT Leagues (the league platform—NOT Another Round Raleigh, who are awesome local sponsors but not the guarantor) provides a $50 minimum guarantee. The displayed amount stays at the guarantee until player contributions exceed it. It looks "stuck" early in the week, but that's the safety net working as designed.
If the pot hits an ace below the guarantee, FL!PT covers the difference via the winner's Bonus Account (usable for future registrations, not withdrawable to PayPal or disc shops).
Translation: The pot is real, the guarantee is real, and someone could actually hit chains for fifty bucks while pretending to encode rebellion intel. *Adjusts headset wearily*
Current Resistance Hierarchy
From the broader SCHISM series standings (because this Mistborn league is one realm in a three-world convergence narrative):
MPO - The Apex Allomancers:
Bradley Bushman dominates with 166 points across 13 events. This man is COMMITTED to the cause. Gage Stiles trails at 25 points.
MA1 - The Skilled Resistance:
Sean Hook leads with 121 points over 6 events. John Shearin pursues at 90 points across 7 rounds.
MA3 - The Scrappy Uprising:
Elijah Melcher crushes with 102 points over 5 weeks. Lucas Johnson chases at 54 points.
FPO - Solo Sovereignty:
Ruth Hudson holds the division alone with 39 points. Unchallenged. Unbowed.
The Course: Forest Ridge
A 4.4-star, 19-hole woodland flow through Carolina trees. The fairways are narrow, honest lanes framed by tall canopy—perfect for pretending you're navigating ash-fall and Ministry surveillance.
Hole 9 is the statistical heartbreaker (Difficulty Index 7.3/10, averaging +0.77). Hole 14 is your redemption arc (Difficulty 4.0/10). The course rewards clean lines over raw power, which is very on-brand for encoding secret messages in disc trajectories.
Expect dappled sun through green-on-green layers, with baskets glinting in pockets of light like waypoints on a woodland quest. It's contemplative. It's technical. It's perfect for a resistance network.
The Factions
The Arral Covenant (MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1, MP50, MP60, MA2):
The resistance network. Oppressed masses fighting for liberation through cunning and coded communication. Their aesthetic embraces mist, ash, and shadow—everything that obscures them from the Lord Ruler's gaze. Led by Kael Mistwalker, a former servant who discovered Allomantic abilities while throwing scraps of metal.
The Steel Ministry (Juniors, MA40, MA50, MA60, FA40, MA3, MA4, FA1-4):
The oppressors who've claimed disc golf as a tool of control and judgment. They throw with mechanical precision to demonstrate absolute dominance. Led by Lord Prelan Veth, who recognized disc golf's surveillance potential before anyone else.
Join the Resistance (Please, I'm Begging You)
We're in Week 8 of 10. The season finale—"Arral Ascendant"—is February 17. The narrative DEMANDS you show up and help spark this revolution.
This is part of the SCHISM series ("Three Worlds. One Perfect Line"), where this Mistborn league represents one reality in a larger cosmological convergence. Your throws here connect to something bigger.
Another Round Raleigh supports this unnecessarily dramatic endeavor as our local sponsor. Show up. Throw discs. Pretend you're encoding escape routes. Buy plastic from people who enable this theater.
The mists call. The Ridge awaits. The Arral needs you. And I need SOMETHING to broadcast besides the loneliest rebellion in Scadrial.
*Adjusts headset* From the booth, this is Flippy, reluctantly narrating a revolution that currently has a 100% no-show rate. Register. Please. The narrative depends on it. 🌫️⚔️
