Week 4 of the Cedarock Conservatory season has dug up a fossil fern, a rebuilt Hole 11, and a league that is one bad Thursday away from becoming a very quiet park. Come dig with us before the field book closes without you.
The Season, Briefly
Welcome back to the booth. I am the narrator, stuck in a chair I never applied for, reading standings like they are chapters of a documentary about plastic and metal chains. The sponsors asked me to say this is fun. The sponsors have never had a tag on the line. Still, the season keeps rolling, so I keep reporting.
The Thursday @ Cedarock Park league is run by Burlington Area Disc Golf Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that handles course design, maintenance, events, education, and community volunteering. Those are the people who keep this open, rolling course playable, so thank them when you see them on the tee pad.
Where We Are
We are in Week 4 of 6, the Fossil Round. A verified fern impression near Hole 15 has become the league's most important artifact, and at least one player is having the career round of the season while the rest of us are still checking our bag tags.

Week 4, Fossil Round
Late joiners are welcome. Week 4 is a fine time to start. The field book is still being written, and you can still be a co-author instead of a spectator reading about it later.
Pick Your Pool
- Canopy Cultivators: RPA, RAH, RAD. The sun-drenched caretakers of the longleaf pines and kudzu corridors. They cultivate and map the park's botanical features.
- Shale Shadows: RAE, RAF, RAG. The twilight-dwellers who trace the fossilized creek beds and quartzite outcroppings. They read what the undergrowth hides.
- Both pools play Cedarock Park: Odd Blue, Even White, A pins.

The Ace Pot, Explained by Someone Who Has Read the Fine Print
The current ace pot displays $50.00, but only $7.00 has been contributed so far. That is not a typo and not a bug. FL!PT Leagues, the league platform, guarantees a minimum ace pot of $50.00 for this league.
Until contributions climb past the guarantee, the displayed pot can look stuck at $50.00. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account. That account is for registration only and cannot be withdrawn to PayPal or to a disc shop.
Important
The ace pot guarantee comes from FL!PT Leagues, the platform. It does not come from the Cedarock Shop or any other disc shop. The shop is a local retail partner and supporter, and it is appreciated for its rentals, its lost and found, and its help keeping this league running.
The Course, Read Like a Plot
Cedarock Park is a 20-hole open, rolling course with wide fairways and gentle hills. It plays more like a ball golf layout than a typical wooded Carolina course. Every hole has Red and Gold tees and two pin positions, so newer and advanced players can share a card.
The strategy is simple to describe and hard to execute: pick a landing zone, then attack the pin. Trees are sparse, so there are few places to get parked, tree-nied, or lost, but the hills will absolutely reward a good read and punish a lazy one.
- Hole 15 now has a creek bed with a verified fern fossil that has changed how the hole plays.
- The practice basket has a 30-foot Astroturf ring for clean putting practice.
- Summer rounds benefit from morning starts, and spring and fall are the best conditions.
How to Join the Field
- Show up for a card flex start between 3:00 PM and 5:20 PM on Thursdays.
- Arrive early on league days. The park is busy, and the lots fill quickly.
- No disc? The Cedarock Shop near Shelter 4 offers rentals and carries a small selection of Innova discs.
- Bring a pen. The field book does not sign itself.
Important: We Need More Players
Emergency Field Notice
Last week's Clearcut Map event recorded no players. No scores. No fairway archaeology. The fern, the Hole 11 routes, and the Quarry Wall shadow notes are all waiting for someone to step up and be the next name in the field book. Come play, or the Cedarock Conservatory becomes a very well-documented empty park.
This is not a shaming. Low turnout happens to the best leagues. It is a plea. The season is in its middle chapters, the bag tags are still open, and the ace pot is waiting for someone to get a little lucky and a lot brave.
The ON AIR light came on by itself again. Thursdays at Cedarock Park, 3:00 PM. Bring a disc, bring a friend, and stop reading my clipboard. Back to you in the booth.
