Welcome back to the booth, acolytes. The Sacred Groves are looking a little... sparse this week. Apparently the call of the Verdant Throne isn't as loud as the call of the snooze button. Let's see what the Thornbound Tussle has in store for the faithful few.
The Sacred Groves Need You
Tuesdays @ Pier Park. Flex start from 7:00 AM to 5:40 PM. You pick your card, you throw your discs, you pray to the Ancient Oak. It is a simple formula that has been failing to draw a crowd for reasons I cannot begin to understand.
Rootwardens vs Canopykin: The Rivalry Continues
Two groves. One destiny. The Rootwardens play the ground, the Canopykin chase the sky. I play the role of a reluctant narrator forced to inject drama into a putting contest.
- Rootwardens (RPA, RAH, RAD): Safe, boring, effective. The tortoises of the grove. They honor the deep soil with conservative, grounded lines.
- Canopykin (RAE, RAF, RAG): Aggressive, risky, often found ricocheting off trees. The hares of the grove. They seek glory through the cathedral gaps above.

For the price of a mediocre burrito bowl, you too can experience the joy of watching your disc hyzer out into the abyss of Pier Park's underbrush while I narrate your spiritual journey.

Rated 4.7 out of 5 on UDisc, Pier Park is classic Portland corridor woods golf. Towering Douglas firs, tight fairways, modest-but-real elevation, and baskets that feel like they are hiding from you. It is a gem that will simultaneously inspire and humble you. Also, look up on hole 15 — there is a dreamcatcher in the trees. Or so I have been told.
