Week 8 · Meltdown Warning
Relics become too hot to handle; players must risk drops to complete holes.
The Big One is finally here. The Raleigh Underdark goes critical in the season finale. Secure your loot before the blast radius freezes the standings.
Welcome to the season finale, mercenaries. The energy core stabilizes for one hour, and then it's chaos. This is 'Final Detonation,' the last chapter of the Jones Park campaign. The narrative says a massive, harmless visual explosion is coming, but we all know the real damage is to your ego if you drop a stroke on Hole 15 today. The victor is the one standing closest to the epicenter—or the one with the lowest score, depending on who you ask in the booth.
The Zone: Jones Park. The Hazard: Everything. The water hazard is allegedly boiling with neon energy, so maybe don't go wading in for a disc. This course rewards accuracy over power, so put away the big guns and aim for the gaps. If you hear a low-frequency hum, it's probably just the tinnitus from last week's shotgun start, but keep your eyes peeled for rifts.
Pick your spawn time. Flex starts run from 8:00 AM to 4:40 PM for those who like to solo the dungeon. If you prefer the chaos of a full party, the shotgun start goes off at 6:00 PM. Don't be late; the blast waits for no one.
The season-long grind ends today. In the RAD division, Cameron Collar is sitting on a mountain of points (384), looking like the final boss. Over in RPA, Bradley Bushman is holding the line with 295 points. These two have been grinding XP all season; can anyone knock them off the pedestal before the server shuts down?
Huge thanks to Another Round Raleigh, Raleigh's Premier Disc Golf Shop and Tap Room. They are the Blacksmiths to our weary adventurers, supplying the gear and the post-raid hydration. Support your local shop; they're the only reason we aren't throwing rocks at sticks.
From the depths of the Underdark... which is just the broadcast booth with mood lighting... I'm Flippy, signing off. Survive the blast.
