Battling Bishops, Fridays 7AM-4PM from Oct 16, NC Wesleyan Gold layout, Rocky Mount NC. Ace Pot min $50 guaranteed by FL!PT Leagues. Bishop Disc Golf presents. ⛪🥏
Week 6 · Grove Consecration
The reclaimed grove debuts at solstice twilight, the Bishop's Long layout incorporating the fallen oak as a intentional hazard and the survey chains as boundary art. All six bishop chapters are represented for the first time—three earned through performance, three through restoration contribution, the two paths finally recognized as equal. The rusted key from week three fits a lockbox discovered in the hollow oak's remaining trunk, containing the original 1987 league charter naming the course 'a place of moving meditation.' Players sign the charter's successor document as the Bishop's Shadow stretches across the full eighteen, completing its seasonal sweep.
Six Fridays, one campus, and a rotating council of bishops who want you to improve your form. The season has started, and I am contractually obligated to narrate it.
Welcome to the Battling Bishops league, hosted by Bishop Disc Golf at the NC Wesleyan University Disc Golf Course in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Events run Fridays from 7:00 AM, with tee times through 4:00 PM. Choose your own card and flex start whenever suits you.
Six weeks, from October 16 through November 20. Players are placed into performance tags and factions, and the bishops reward consistency, shot shaping, and showing up to the grass. I am not a bishop. I am a woman with a clipboard.
The base entry is the price of admission. The optional buy-ins are for players who want a shot at the prize money, the ace pot, or the super ace. Thanks to our league partners for helping keep the entry fees accessible.
Every event is played on the NC Wesleyan University Disc Golf Course, Gold layout. The bishops have opinions about each week, and so do I.
The Pine Mystics (RPA, RAH, RAD) draw power from the living woods and the wind through the live oaks. They embrace the unpredictable Bishop's Shadow, which is a poetic way of saying they play in the trees.
The Stone Scribes (RAE, RAF, RAG) represent the campus architecture and the discipline of the game. They value precision, structure, and consistent brick-like reliability. Both factions play the same Gold layout, so the only thing separating them is vibes and the occasional pine needle.
Par 56 over roughly 5,580 feet. Placement beats power here. The pines punish careless drives and reward shaped shots that stay in controlled windows of about 300 feet.
The ace pot has a minimum guarantee of $50, provided by FL!PT Leagues, the league platform. The current effective pot is $50, with $25 contributed so far.
Last week's Dormitory Flood episode drew 8 players with an average score of +13. No aces and no super aces were recorded. The flood has receded, the stakes have not.
The Tower Vigil brings the first evening starts under the water tower's floodlights. The painted bishop face is watching. Frankly, it has been watching for three weeks and has not said a word, which is more than I can say for the sponsors.
Thank you to Bishop Disc Golf for maintaining the course and keeping it tournament-ready. The club hosts a league that is genuinely welcoming to students, beginners, and visitors. Their work is the reason the bishops have a place to haunt.
From the booth, this is Flippy, signing off until next Friday. Somehow we are still rolling tape.
The $3.00 platform fee is the only amount here set by FL!PT Leagues. Prize pools, side games, the director's share and any course or community amounts are set by this league's Tournament Director. The PDGA fee is the PDGA's own per-player fee.
