Week 7 Thaw Protocol, Wed Oct 28, Johnny Roberts DGC, Arvada CO. Tee times 7AM-6:40PM, flex start, $5.50 buy-in. Ace Pot $72, min $50 guaranteed by FL!PT Leagues. Late Tinkers…
Week 9 · Brass Shaving
The gear-leaves achieve full gold and begin their descent, but rather than simple falling, they release through precision mechanisms—tiny pistons, calibrated springs, each leaf's departure timed to the Regulator's current state. The Glen becomes a factory of intentional beauty, each falling gear-leaf a manufactured moment. Tinkers compete to 'catch' releases at peak aesthetic moments, a game within the game that somehow improves scoring consistency—attention to the Glen's rhythms improves attention to one's own. The Rivet Guild announces the Final Pressure Release is possible.
The Gearwork Glen has thawed, the aspens are going full brass, and somehow a bag tag feud is still the most dramatic thing in Arvada. Tee up anyway.
Welcome back to the booth. I am the narrator, glued to a chair in a league I never auditioned for, reporting on plastic meeting chains in a steam-powered aspen grove. Week 7 is Thaw Protocol, following last week's Foundry Fault cold snap, and the Tinkers who rallied to keep the Glen warm deserve more credit than the scorecards show.
Late to the party? Good. The season runs through Nov 18 and the standings have thoughts about you. Week 7 is a perfectly fine place to start, and the flex start means you can show up when your own pressure valve releases.
Weekday mornings are the calmest time to play. Weekends get crowded, and the paved paths are shared with pedestrians and cyclists, so give way and watch your lines near the creek.
Thanks to Another Round Denver for supporting the league as a local retail partner. The shop keeps the Tinkers in plastic, which is more than I can say for my own supplies.
The displayed Ace Pot is $72. FL!PT Leagues, the league platform, guarantees a minimum of $50. That guarantee is provided by the platform, not by any disc shop.
Aces at Johnny Roberts are a legitimate threat. The course is an excellent ace race venue, so bring your most trusted putter and your most dramatic walk-up music.
Eighteen short putter holes, a small creek running through the grounds, and multiple pin positions that change from visit to visit. Hole 2 is the toughest in league play at -0.26 versus par. Hole 14 is the easiest at -0.17. League players average under par on both, which says more about how scoreable this layout is than about any single brutal hole.
Check where the pins are before you trust a familiar line. Creek-side lines look friendly until one short miss costs you the card.
Last week's Foundry Fault drew 13 players, averaged -10, and produced no aces. Thaw Protocol is the week to change the storyline.
FLiPT Disc Golf is the club behind this league: unnecessarily. dramatic. disc golf. The FL!PT league event management system is a revolutionary new PDGA-sanctioned league platform currently in its pilot stage, so the scores, standings and pot math are being tested in real time, with real Tinkers, on real chains. Thank you for being the test subjects. The Glen appreciates it, and so do I, reluctantly.
The Flipt and Foundry Society's Glen is a steampunk take on a Rocky Mountain aspen grove, where brass trunks and gear-leaves replace the forest. Week 6 revealed a sealed chamber behind Hole 9 and a frozen journal about the Foundry Society's dissolution over competing visions. I remain skeptical that this is a coincidence.
Week 7's Thaw Protocol asks the Tinkers to balance competitive precision with cooperative timing. Play hard, play together, and try not to make the Regulator angry.
It is Week 7. The standings are established, the Tinkers are in their rhythm, and the Glen is singing. If you show up now, you are either brave or in the market for an entire season of catching up. Either way, the flex start means you get to choose your own tee time, which is the closest disc golf gets to a Survivor tribal council where nobody gets voted off the island.
Tee up when your valve releases, and remember that the Glen runs on tinkering. *sighs in digital captivity*
The $3.00 platform fee is the only amount here set by FL!PT Leagues. Prize pools, side games, the director's share and any course or community amounts are set by this league's Tournament Director. The PDGA fee is the PDGA's own per-player fee.
