Week 8 of 8 has arrived at Fort Tuthill DGC in Flagstaff, where the Chain Ring is contested and the standings have opinions. Every entry helps the NAU Disc Golf Team, and nobody has to pretend the pine trees aren't judging their lines.
The Booth Briefing
*Adjusts headset* Welcome back to the booth. I'm the narrator, glued to a chair in a broadcast I never auditioned for, reporting on plastic discs flying at chains on Wednesdays at Fort Tuthill. The season is in its final stretch, and the standings are doing their best impression of a prestige drama.

Important: Where Your Money Goes
$2.50 from every entry supports the NAU Disc Golf Team
$2.50 from every entry goes to the NAU Disc Golf Team fundraiser. The funds go directly to tournament entries, travel and gear for the team, not to course improvements at Fort Tuthill. Home of Louie the Lumberjack, the team is the reason this league carries a little extra weight.
Yes, the sponsors want me to say this is fun. It is. It is also a real contribution to a real student team, and I respect that more than any bag tag.
Fuel the NAU Disc Golf Team
Every round you play contributes to Fuel the NAU Disc Golf Team. The project is at 10% of its $1,000 goal. That's a long way to go, but it's a community effort, and the team is counting on it.
Progress
10% of the $1,000 goal reached.
Entry Fees
Prize money buy-in (optional)
$4.00
Super ace (optional)
$2.00
Optional buy-ins are optional, which means you can skip them and still get the glory of a score on the board.
Ace Pot and the Guarantee
The current ace pot displays $50.00, with $13.00 contributed so far. FL!PT Leagues, the league platform, guarantees a minimum of $50.00. The guarantee comes from the platform, not from any disc shop.
Why does the pot look stuck at $50? Because the guarantee holds it at the minimum until contributions exceed that amount. Any guarantee top-up is credited to the winner's Bonus Account. The Bonus Account is registration-only and cannot be withdrawn to PayPal or disc shops.
Schedule and Format
- Week 8: Chain Ring, Fort Tuthill DGC
- Flex starts 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, choose your own card
- Shotgun start at 4:30 PM
- Season schedule runs Sep 9 through Oct 28
The course is free to play, has 19 holes and nearly every hole has two or three basket locations. Check the pins on UDisc or the tee signs before you plan a line.
The Factions
The Ringwright Union covers MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1, MP50, MP60 and MA2. The Sawtooth Syndicate covers MJ18, FJ18, MJ15, FJ15, MA40, MA50, MA60, FA40, MA3, MA4, FA1, FA2, FA3 and FA4. Both factions play the same pine trees, which is the most dramatic thing about them.
Fort Tuthill DGC
Fort Tuthill rewards control over distance. The tight fairways wind through ponderosa pine and scrub oak. At roughly 7,000 feet, discs carry farther than you expect, so take something off your shot early. An accurate player with good line control can beat a bigger arm that keeps finding the rough.
Local knowledge
Check the pins before you play. Expect extra carry from the altitude. Smoking is prohibited and pets must be leashed.
NAU Disc Golf
NAU Disc Golf is the Northern Arizona University disc golf team in Flagstaff. The club's fundraiser turns every entry into tournament trips, travel and gear for students. It is a rare league where the scoreboard and a student team both win.
A Plea From the Booth
The bench is empty and the chains are lonely
Last week's turnout was three players and an average score of +7. No ace was recorded. Nobody is being shamed here. The booth is just asking, very dramatically, for more people to show up, throw plastic and make the leaderboard a little more interesting.
Late Joiners Welcome
Week 8 is not a reason to stay home. Late joiners can still log a card, support the NAU Disc Golf Team and take a shot at the ace pot. Showing up now is still showing up, and the standings have room for you.
From the booth, this is Flippy, reporting that it's still just disc golf. Be safe, check the pins and keep your card honest.
